Although Sharjah International Airport is just under ten miles from the world-famous city of Dubai, Sharjah is itself well worth a visit too. The Al Majaz Waterfront has all the trappings of wealth and modern development, but this part of the UAE is also keen to pay homage to its rich heritage, which has been recognised by UNESCO. The city has seventeen museums in total, which are best explored via car hire from Sharjah Airport.
The King Faisal and Al Noor mosques are age-old landmarks, and if you're hiring a car from Sharjah Airport, a visit to Sharjah Desert Park allows you the chance to enjoy its unique wildlife.
Visitors to Sharjah love the vibrancy and beauty of Al Majaz Waterfront in the evening. In the daytime there are endless cultural and learning opportunities. There's the Maritime Museum, the Heritage Museum, the Archaeology Museum, and the hugely impressive Museum of Islamic Civilisation – all within easy reach when you hire a car from Sharjah Airport.
Shoppers may wish to experience the sights and sounds of the famous Blue Souq bazaar and market, which offers something a bit different to the museum run. For those who rent a car from Sharjah Airport, Dubai is a quick car journey that offers some unique experiences of its own.
